Function / Content

This series consists of two applications for exemption from two gold mines, "Queen of Sheba" and "Kia Ora" on the Warramunga Goldfield. The application for the Queen of Sheba mine is made in letter form (29/08/1951) and states that further capital is required to develop the mine as the ore obtained to date is not payable with present battery charges which, they state, have been raised considerably since the tribute was taken. The application by Kia Ora mine, made through an Application for Exemption form (28/08/1951), requests an exemption due to being unable to obtain labour. Hearings were scheduled for 13 September 1951, an outcome was not recorded on file.
